The Opinion is published by law students for law students. The Opinion is the official student newspaper of SUNY Buffalo Law School, the State University of New York. Any reproduction of materials herein is not allowed without the express consent of the Editors-In-Chief and the piece writer.
We want to hear from you
Anyone can write for The Opinion. We accept both letters and guest columns from any and all SUNY Buffalo Law School students, faculty, staff and alumni. Any submissions must contain the following information: your name, relation to the law school/class year, phone number and email address. Please limit letters to approximately 500 words. Please limit guest columns to approximately 700 words.
Submission of a letter or quest column constitutes an exclusive, worldwide, transferable license to The Opinion of the copyright in the material in any media. The Opinion retains the right to edit submissions for grammar, content, and length.
The Opinion does not endorse any of the viewpoints and opinions stated within its pages. The Opinion is not an official publication of SUNY Buffalo Law School and does not therefore express the views of SUNY Buffalo Law School.
Articles and pictures are for the express use of The Opinion. Although every effort is made to publish all materials meeting our guidelines, we regret that not all submissions received can be published. Submissions received will be sent a response within 48 hours notifying the author of the approval and projected publication month for their piece.

Editorial Policy of The Opinion
The Opinion publishes letters and columns of interest to SUNY Buffalo Law School and the Western New York legal community at large. Views expressed in such submissions are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of The Opinion, the Editorial Board, or SUNY Buffalo Law School. Letters from organizations and/or individuals must bear your name, relation to the university or class year, and email address. All letters and columns must be submitted electronically from the author's e-mail account to buffalolawopinion@gmail.com. All letters and columns submitted to The Opinion will be retained as property of/copyrighted by The Opinion.
Submissions must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the Twenty-Second of every month (October 22, April 22, etc.) and must be in accordance with the submission guidelines. Letters over 500 words and columns over 700 words will be reviewed by the Editorial Board but may be sent back to the author(s) for significant editing. The Editorial Board reserves the right to edit all submissions for length, grammar, and clarity. Although every effort is made to publish all materials meeting our guidelines, we regret that not all submissions received can be published. The Editorial Board of The Opinion will notify you in advance should your submission need to be held for publication in a different issue.
